The Valentines Day Pin-Up Project.

I thought I would be able to talk myself out of participating in the “A Few Threads Loose” sewing challenge. After all, A recent clean up of my sewing room unearthed an alarmingly high pile of UFOs and alterations that I intended to finish before tackling a new project.
(You could call it a new years resolution. I'd rather not.)
Not to mention that there's that costume I need for a convention that's only mumble mumble months away. Or the car related things my boyfriend has been nagging for help with for weeks. Or my non-sewing related projects. What can I say, I'm a chronic project starter.
But no matter how much guilt the sight of my poor unloved sewing projects inflicted, I could not overcome the visions of lingerie that danced in my head. I began to obsess over being a pin-up girl for valentines day with a ferocity I usually reserve for – well- starting new projects. My self inflicted shaming was not working, so I decided to try another route. I'd use boyfriend as a proxy for my guilt. It was fool-proof. After all my UFO pile is affecting him as much as it is me right now. Even this, however, did not go to plan.
“Lingerie? That's awesome, you have to do it.”
Boyfriend. Lingerie. Right... I didn't think that one through very well. And now my lack of results would disappoint someone. My attempt to put the blame on me not taking up the challenge on someone else had ended up with me need to take up the challenge as to not disappoint someone else.
The main problem with time spent obsessing is that it is time spent not doing. However, despite the late start date I figured I had just a little less then two weeks to make two small items of clothing. Simple right? Well, yes. Until I came to the realisation that the end date for the competition was not, in fact, valentines day as I had first thought. Two items in a little less then a week? That had me sweating. But still doable.
The other problem with time spent obsessing? Well in my mind I had set myself a larger challenge. I need to be pin-up ready by valentines day. That would include a robe and underwear pattern I've had sitting in my stash for some time.
So there it is. A bit less than two weeks to sew four items of clothing. Am I crazy? Probably. But what's the worst that an happen, more food for the UFO monster?

Let the Valentines Pip-Up project commence!
